Start-up companies would like to learn the key topics/ factors that an entrepreneur needs to build a successful start-up, learn to deliver an effective investor presentation, plan to fine tune, commercialize and seek for investor funding for their MVPs to the markets.

 - The fee is refundable only if participants comply with Cyberport Academy Attendance Policy
- Each company could have up to 3 staff members including 1 principal attendee (founder/co-founder) and 2 team members (co-founders/senior executives) to join.
 - Eligible principal attendee could have a certification to be issued by Cyberport with endorsement from each mentor.

MS GIGI WANG

MG Team, UC Berkeley Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology, UC Berkeley 
Gigi Wang is an Industry Fellow at UC Berkeley Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology and Chair Emeritus & Board Member of the MIT/Stanford Venture Lab.  She is also the Managing Partner at MG-Team, where she runs a consulting firm which provides entrepreneurship/innovation training, along with international business development services for corporations, start-ups and governments with clients in the US, Europe and Asia.  

Before starting up MG-Team, Gigi was the SVP of Marketing and Alliances for July Systems, a start-up providing mobile marketing solutions.  Prior to July, she was CEO & Co-founder of AsiaQuest.  As an Internet pioneer in the 90’s, she started up Pacific Internet in Singapore (IPO on NASDAQ in 1999) and launched the internationally re-knowned TRUSTe Internet privacy program in 1996, along with holding sales positions at Pacific Bell (acquired by SBC/AT&T).  She started her career as a refinery engineer for Exxon-Mobile.  

Gigi holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and Masters Business Administration from UC Berkeley.  When living in Singapore, she was an Adjunct Professor in the Entrepreneurship Center at National University of Singapore.

MR BILL REICHERT

General Partner, Pegasus Ventures 
Bill Reichert has over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and operating executive. Since joining Garage in 1998, Bill has focused on early-stage information technology and materials science companies. He has been a board director or board observer at CaseStack, WhiteHat Security, ClearFuels Technology, Simply Hired, MiaSole, D.light Design, ThermoCeramix, and VisaNow, among others. Prior to Garage, Bill was a co-founder or senior executive in several venture-backed technology startups, including Trademark Software, The Learning Company, and Academic Systems. Earlier in his career, he worked at McKinsey & Company, Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., and the World Bank. Bill earned a B.A. at Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. He was a founding board member and a Chairman of the Churchill Club, and a Board Member of the Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs. Currently he is the Chairman of the Small Fund Roundtable of the VC Taskforce and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

MR KAL DEUTSCH

CEO & Co-Founder, DealEngine.AI 
Kal is Founder and CEO of DealEngine, a predictive analytics company making startups better for both founders and investors. He was also a Co-Founder at Silicon Valley in Your Pocket, a global virtual startup accelerator program. He is wasc also a founding Investor-Advisor and Partner at Batchery, a Berkeley-based startup accelerator. He served as Batchery CEO and Managing Partner during the launch and ramp-up period. Kal is an international startup lecturer and coach, and has worked with entrepreneurs at global incubators and accelerators across Europe, Asia and Latin America.

With a background in finance, strategy and product management, Kal has held a number of executive positions at companies ranging from Fortune 100 companies to early stage startup companies, including Visa, Wells Fargo, and Price Waterhouse. Startups include real estate tech companies Homegain, EscapeHomes, and TotalMove. Kal holds an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in Management Science from UC San Diego.

MR KEN SINGER

Managing Director, UC Berkeley Sutradja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology / Founder, AppCentral

Ken Singer is a serial entrepreneur, technology executive, university lecturer, and director/advisor to numerous startups in the US, Europe and Latin America. A 16-year veteran of the mobile industry, Ken created solutions spanning all forms of mobile technology and has founded or co-founded five companies in the mobility space. Ken was the co-founder and CEO of AppCentral, the first enterprise app store to let companies distribute mobile applications to their employees’ iPhones, iPads and Android devices. Ken successfully led the company through difficult market conditions and several rounds of venture financing.  Today, Ken is the Managing Director of the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (CET) at UC Berkeley where he teaches and mentors student and faculty entrepreneurs.

MR ROBERT UPHAM

Startup Advisor & Entrepreneur, Fintech Expert 
Experienced Internet Business Development professional. Extremely well versed in strategic partnerships and alliances, content acquisition, API licensing, platform technology, developer ecosystem. Domain expertise around search, location, local, events, mobile, distribution, social, geo and maps. Excellent negotiator, deep knowledge of contract law, finance, tax and privacy policies, international law and tax issues.
 
 Have led or been part of key teams for many deals, from startups to Fortune 50 companies. Have led many traditional and non-traditional deal structures, such as licensing fee, revenue share, technology exchange and attribution.

PROFESSOR VIRGINIA CHA

Serial Entrepreneur, Entrepreneurship Professor, Angel Investor 
Virginia is an active angel investor, mentor, and educator in Entrepreneurship at various universities in Singapore and is uniquely credentialed with both theoretical and practical expertise in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.  She is one of the pioneering architects in Singapore’s long journey towards an innovation-led economy.  Her journey in Singapore’s entrepreneurship ecosystem began in 1995 when she pioneered the Technology Commercialization pathways for taking public-funded research IP into venture-funded, technology spin-out companies.   This pioneering program saw more than 13 hi-tech companies spun-out in the years 1995-1997.  As part of the program, she also became the founding CEO of the world’s first multilingual language technology company.  In her entrepreneurial career since, she has been CEO and co-founder of multiple, venture-funded technology startup companies in Singapore, Beijing, and Shanghai.  In 2007, she embarked on a journey of learning and research pursuing her PhD studies in Innovation (degree conferred in 2011) at the National University of Singapore. Her contribution to Singapore’s entrepreneurship ecosystem is widely recognized and holds multiple appointments by tertiary education institutions to coach and guide Singapore’s next-generation of technopreneurs.  Virginia published a book “Asia's Entrepreneurs: Dilemmas, Risks and Opportunities” (Routledge) on Singapore’s recent history and current development in technology entrepreneurship development.   Virginia served as a global agenda council member of World Economic Forum on Fostering Entrepreneurship from 2012-2014 and is a sitting member in 2016-2016.
