MR STEVEN FUNG

Principal – Registered Patent Attorney (AU, NZ), Real & Complex IP Services Ltd 
Steven is a Registered Patent Attorney (AU/NZ) and has been practicing in the industry for over 15 years.

Steven started in the profession as a Patent Examiner with the Australian Patent Office where he became familiar with the procedures and thought process of the Examination centre. After a short time in the Examiner role, Steven moved into the Patent Attorney profession with a large Australian Patent & Trademark Attorney firm before joining an International Patent Attorney firm in Hong Kong in 2012 where he was an Associate, and later a Partner for 6 years.

Recognizing the uniqueness and strengths of the Hong Kong innovation community and his desires to increase his contributions to a golden moment of innovation and advancement in our history, Steven started Real & Complex IP to directly serve inventors, universities and companies in our growing ecosystem.

Steven is an expert Patent Attorney and works with a variety of technologies including computation, electronics and telecommunications. He has worked with a large range of clients, from multi-nationals to start-ups and has been involved in supporting some very large patent litigation cases. He is also heavily involved in the innovation and start up community with lectures, seminars and mentoring with different start up groups in Hong Kong.

MR FRANK LEE

Associate - Chartered (UK) Patent Attorney, Marks & Clerk Hong Kong 
Frank has acquired experience in patents in a wide range of technical fields, with experience gained working both in private practice and in-house. He specializes in electronics and digital inventions, in particular semiconductors, electronics, telecommunications, antennas, software, blockchains, AI (machine-learning), and business methods. He also has extensive experience in the field of mechanical engineering. His practice covers patent drafting, prosecution, portfolio management, due diligence, and opinion work for a wide variety of clients including local and regional start-ups, SMEs, universities, and large multinational companies.

Prior to joining the patent profession in 2012, Frank graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a bachelor degree in biomedical engineering and a master (MPhil) degree in electrical and electronics engineering. His research focused on high field MRI techniques and their applications. Frank gained valuable experience of IP management and enforcement through a secondment as an in-house IP manager/director for a Hong-Kong-based multinational corporation.

Frank is fluent in English and Chinese (including Mandarin and Cantonese).
