In this session we will analyze recent regulatory developments related to disclosure and sustainability reporting. Prominent examples include the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, the Sustainable Finance Reporting Disclosure Regulation, and the EU Taxonomy. We will discuss together the potential economic consequences of these regulatory moves, including capital market effects and spillovers in the real economy, with the ultimate objective of identifying opportunities and avoiding risks. The discussion will include, among other things, how this regulation will affect investment portfolios, and what sort of behavior should we expect from corporations and investment companies. We will also discuss the tensions in the ongoing process of developing sustainability reporting standards. Finally, we will analyze the impact of ESG on traditional financial reporting.


Dr. Roey Tzezana is a world-renowned futurist and AI researcher from the Blavatnik Center at Tel Aviv University. He's the author of "Guide to the Future" (which was also published in China) and "Rulers of the Future". Dr. Tzezana has conducted research and innovation in several future-oriented fields such as robotics, AI, longevity and age reversal and tissue engineering. His research has led him to journey worldwide - from Kazakhstan to Latin America and even Antarctica (where he became one of the few people in the world to capture pokemon on that barren continent) - trying to understanding how technology will impact humanity and reshape our society and institutions. Dr. Tzezana will explore the myths about artificial intelligence that have been debunked over the past two years, shedding light on how our understanding of AI has evolved. We'll delve into the current trends shaping the field and discuss what AI is expected to achieve in the next few years, projecting its capabilities towards the end of the decade. The lecture will also examine the broader implications of these advancements, particularly in terms of the future of work, and offer insights into the skills and knowledge areas that will be essential for staying competitive and successful in this rapidly changing landscape.

Prof. Gaizka Ormazabal has a PhD. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, PhD. Construction Engineering and Degree in Civil Engineering Universidad Polytecnica de Catalunya. With his research background focusing on corporate governance and sustainable development, Prof. Gaizka Ormazabal will share about "ESG Reporting - Understanding the Rapidly Evolving Regulatory Landscape" in this seminar. Prof. Gaizka Ormazabal

Professor, IESE Business School

Professor Gaizka Ormazabal received a PhD in Business from Stanford University, a PhD in Construction Engineering from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Ingeniería de Caminos, Canals y Puertos) from Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya.


Professor Ormazabal’s research focuses on executive compensation and corporate governance. His work examines the choice and valuation implications of corporate governance mechanisms. His current research projects analyze recent trends in managerial compensation, corporate governance intermediaries, financial regulation, bank accounting, and the role of corporate governance in sustainable development.


His research appears in leading academic journals including, among others, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, Review of Accounting Studies, and The Accounting Review. His research has been featured in the popular media, including such outlets as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, The Economist, Forbes, and Bloomberg, and has been cited in final rulings by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the European Securities and Markets Authority. He is editor of Review of Accounting Studies. Gaizka is also a Research Affiliate in the Financial Economics program of the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), research member in the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), and Research Member of the Sustainable Finance Research and Policy Network (RPN). He holds the Grupo Santander Chair of Financial Institutions and Corporate Governance and serves as academic director at the IESE Center for Corporate Governance.
