Winnie is a Senior Counsel (appointed silk in 2006), a barrister and arbitrator. Winnie has extensive experience in business and shareholder disputes, and is reputed to be a top lawyer in the region on intellectual property law, including registration and licensing disputes, and technology transfer. Winnie has practised from Des Voeux Chambers since 1999, and is an overseas member (door tenant) of 8 New Square, London. She has been honoured by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple as an Overseas Bencher.
Her current practice is a mixture of international arbitration (as arbitrator or lead counsel) and litigation. She is a Recorder of the Court of First Instance, High Court of HKSAR. She is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written), and has often presided as arbitrator and as judge in proceedings conducted in Chinese.
Winnie is a former Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association and currently chairs its Committee on Intellectual Property and Committee on Sports Law. She is Co-chair of the Women in Arbitration Committee under HKIAC, and a member of its Appointments Committee.
In public service, Winnie is entrusted with diverse leadership responsibilities including as Chairman of the Communications Authority, and the Performing Arts Committee under the West Kowloon Cultural District Board.
