What is Financial Practitioners FinTech Training Programme 2022?

Commissioned by Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (the “FSTB”), the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (the “HKCMCL”, the “Cyberport”) has launched The Financial Practitioners FinTech Training Programme 2022 (the “Programme”).

The Programme targets both the senior executives and execution teams of financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies, licensed corporations under Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (the “SFC”) and The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (the “MPFA”), with a view to deepening in-service financial practitioners’ understanding of Fintech, thereby promoting wider FinTech adoption by financial institutions, and further accelerating digital transformation of the financial services sectors.


Advisory Group for FinTech 2022-23 comprises of representatives from government, academia, financial service industry and non-government organisations to provide professional advice to the Programme.

The programme is divided into TWO SUB-PROGRAMMES : (1) Webinars Series and (2) Incentive Scheme. Details of the two programmes are listed below.

(1) Webinars Series

Eligibility:
  • Applicants must be financial institutions regulated by financial regulators, including The Securities and Futures Commission (the “SFC”), The Insurance Authority (the “IA”), The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (the “MPFA”) and The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (the “HKMA”), and/or trade associations in the securities and insurance sectors.

    (1) Webinars Series

    The Webinars Series seeks to provide subsidies for financial practitioners to enroll FinTech training programmes tailored for the needs of in-service financial practitioners and decision-makers.

    Subsidy:
    • The listed fee of the Webinars Series per head per session is HK$775 and it is fully subsidized by FSTB.
    • The programme is fully subsidized if and only if Cyberport Academy Attendance Policy is fully complied.

    Recognition:
    • Participants could get e-Certificates with earned CPD credits.
    • Three awards are set up to encourage industry participation and subsequent implementation of FinTech solution. The awards will be presented at the graduation ceremony of the Programme.

      • 2) FinTech Talent Award 2022.
      • 3) FinTech Transformation Award 2022.

    (2) Incentive Scheme

    The Incentive Scheme is to deepen in-service financial practitioners’ understanding of Fintech, and allowing greater flexibility for financial services organisations to tailor-make training programmes specifically for their practitioners, thereby promoting wider FinTech adoption by financial institutions, and further accelerating digital transformation of the financial services sectors.


    Eligibility:
    • Applicants must be trade associations in the securities and insurance sectors.

    Subsidy:
    • Subsidy shall be provided to applicants on training production and operation expenses.

    • Subsidy covered items:
      • Training production and operation expenses
      Maximum Subsidy Amount per Successfully Approved programme:
      • Up to HK$100,000

      Requirement:
      • The Trade Association specific training programmes must be knowledge transferred basis and FinTech related, and the expected individual attendees per training programme should be at least 50.
      • Training programmes must be held and finished by 31 October 2022 after the announcement of successful applicants according to vetting results.
